Start Practice Server
When you first start playing TFC, you will want to try out all of the
character classes and see what they can do. In the middle of a public
game is not the best place to do this.
A good place to get your feet wet is in a practice server you start on
your own machine.
Below you'll find instructions on how to do that.
|
In the lower right corner of your windows desktop you will find a black
and white icon for Steam. If you don't have this, then just start Steam up.
It will put an icon in the taskbar.
|
|
If you right-click (click with the right mouse button) on the Steam icon found
in the taskbar, you will see the pop-up menu. Click on the Games option.
|
|
Click the "Team Fortress Classic" line. It will turn dark to indicate that you have
selected TFC. Now you may either double-click that line, you click on the
Launch button in the bottom right. Either way is fine. This will launch the
TFC game.
|
|
When the TFC game is launched you will see the front screen.
Click on the "Create Server" button. This will ta-da create a server.
Amazing how literal some of these silly programs are.
This created server is running on your computer. You can run around
and not worry about lookie-lews or interlopers.
By the way do not use the "Find Servers" button on this screen
to find servers. You need to go through the servers button in the Steam
pop-up menu.
